Abby Bressette, Branco Lab

My name is Abby (she/ her) and I am a first year Environmental Studies major at Virginia Commonwealth University. I enjoy spending my time outdoors and have found that I learn something new every time I go into nature! As part of the BUEE program, I will be studying the new living shoreline at Jamaica Bay with Dr. Branco. I've previously been involved in research at VCU studying the feather reflectivity of prothonotary warblers, a small yellow bird that migrates from North to South America every year. This research can help us better understand the impact that climate conditions have on the species. In my free time, I like to read and make art. I hope to pursue a combination of lab and field work in ecology in my future career, so I am very grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the BUEE program!
